Minecraft LIVE 2026 on September 26 brought several major reveals for the Minecraft universe. Mojang showed new gameplay from Minecraft Dungeons 2, shared plans for Minecraft World, announced Sound Effects Packs, presented the Ice Caves game drop, and finished the show with the reveal of a new dimension coming to Java and Bedrock Edition.

This edition of Minecraft LIVE combined projects arriving very soon with content planned much further ahead. Some announcements focused on Minecraft spin-offs and real-world attractions, while the second half of the show introduced major additions for the main game. Minecraft Dungeons 2 expands exploration

Minecraft Dungeons 2 received another detailed showcase before its September 29 launch. The story begins around Bravehaven, where players help Villagers establish a new home while a strange soul corruption starts spreading through the Overworld.

The sequel is designed around a more connected map instead of a sequence of isolated missions. Players can choose routes more freely, explore optional areas, interact more closely with Villagers, and search for hidden places.

Movement is also more flexible this time. Characters can jump, opening access to small parkour sections, secrets, and jump attacks during combat. Loot, mobs, and equipment remain an important part of progression.

Mojang also confirmed post-launch DLC. One of the most important locations in the game is The Sift, a separate dimension filled with souls.

Minecraft World reveals hotel and rollercoaster

The upcoming Minecraft World attraction at Chessington World of Adventures Resort received two new announcements.

Visitors will eventually be able to stay in the first official Minecraft World Hotel. The project will also include the first official Minecraft rollercoaster, named Escape the Nether.

Both attractions are planned to open next year as part of the larger Minecraft World experience created with Merlin Entertainments.

Sound Effects Packs are coming to Marketplace

Minecraft Marketplace will gain a new category later this year with the arrival of Sound Effects Packs.

Instead of changing blocks, skins, or other visual elements, these packs will allow creators to alter parts of the soundscape and give Minecraft worlds a different audio atmosphere. Ice Caves become the next game drop

One of the main reveals of Minecraft LIVE was Ice Caves, a rare underground extension connected to cold biomes.

These caves use calcite together with new glowing ice crystals. The crystals provide natural illumination inside dark areas and can also be collected and placed by players.

They work on both vertical and horizontal surfaces, making them useful for decoration as well as lighting.

Ice Caves also contain large icicles hanging from ceilings. They are part of the biome’s hazards rather than simple decoration. Artificial light placed nearby can cause the icicles to react and fall.

A new hostile creature, the Frozen Zombie, lives in these areas. Its close-range attacks build up a freezing effect and slow the target. Repeated hits can eventually leave the player fully frozen.

Frozen Zombies can also use ice balls as ranged weapons. These projectiles deal damage and knock targets backward.

Regular Zombies can become Frozen Zombies after spending time in powder snow. This gives players another controllable mob transformation and creates new possibilities for farms.

Frozen Zombies drop ice balls when defeated. Players can throw them as weapons for damage and knockback or use them to brew a new freezing potion capable of freezing other players.

The Sift becomes Minecraft’s fourth dimension

The final announcement of the show looked much further ahead. The Sift is coming to Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition in 2027. Players who want to move to the new Bedrock branch as its builds arrive will be able to Download Minecraft 1.27 and test the content introduced for the 2027 cycle.

It will be the first new Minecraft dimension added in more than 14 years and will sit alongside the Overworld, Nether, and End as the game’s fourth official dimension.

The Sift first appears in Minecraft Dungeons 2 as a world closely tied to souls. Mojang has already confirmed at least two additions for its future appearance in the main game: a new creature called The Blub and a new type of tree.
